Rental-house workflow (inventory first)

For a company whose business starts in the warehouse, the catalog is the source of truth. This path starts in ShowKeep, draws the plot from what you actually own, and comes back to ShowKeep as a job you can pull against.

:::note Before you start Owned inventory in ShowPlot and sending between apps both need ShowKeep on Max, or the bundle. See What each tier unlocks for integration. :::

  1. Build your catalog in ShowKeep. Add the gear you own, with real dimensions, weight, and DMX modes. See Add inventory.
  2. Open the job in ShowKeep. Create the job for the client and the dates. See Jobs.
  3. Draw the plot in ShowPlot from your Owned inventory. Start a show on the same dates and place gear from the Owned pane, which mirrors your ShowKeep catalog with live counts. See Use your ShowKeep inventory inside ShowPlot and Place gear from the library.
  4. Watch availability as you draw. Owned, available, and short counts update as you add fixtures and change dates, so you see a conflict while you are still drawing. See Check availability before you pull.
  5. Send the plot back to ShowKeep. Send updates the same linked job with whatever you added in ShowPlot, rather than creating a second one. See Send work between apps.
  6. Sub-rent what is short. The preflight before you send shows owned, available, and short line by line. Send anyway to create the job with shortages, then cover them with a sub-rental or a swap. See Availability and shortages.
  7. Pull and pack. Pull the job, pack cases, and pull those cases into ShowPlot's truck pack. See Your ShowKeep cases become ShowPlot's truck pack.

:::warning Shortages do not block the job ShowSuite always tells you when a plot needs more than you own, but it never stops you from sending it. Sub-rentals and swaps are a normal part of the business, so treat the shortage as information you act on, not an error to fix before you can proceed. :::
