Place gear from the library

The library lives in the top half of the left panel. Search it, or browse by category: Staging, Truss, Lighting, Video, Audio, Pipe & Drape, Cameras, Scenic, Furniture, and Special. Click an item to start placing it in the room.

Real specs, not just shapes

Library items carry the specs you actually need on site: physical dimensions, weight, power draw, and, for anything addressable, its DMX modes. That's what lets the room stay honest to real life and what feeds your patch and gear list once things are placed.

Add your own gear

Don't have what you need in the catalog? Add a custom library item with its own name, category, manufacturer, model, dimensions, weight, power, and DMX modes, plus a simple shape (a box, an upright cylinder, or a flat panel) so it has something to look like on screen. Custom items are available on every plan and stay in your org's library for every future show. Manage them from the Library Manager, covered in Manage rooms and the library.

:::note Real fixtures instead of a generic shape If you need an accurate 3D model of a specific manufacturer's fixture rather than a custom shape, that's what GDTF import is for. See Import real fixtures with GDTF. :::

Your owned inventory

If your org connects ShowKeep, the library also shows an Owned section: the gear you actually own, with live counts and availability for your show's dates. Placing from Owned works the same as placing a catalog item, and ShowPlot flags a shortage as soon as you place more than you have on hand. See ShowKeep inventory in ShowPlot.
