Check availability and flag shortages

Availability answers one question for a given date range: how many of this item are free? ShowKeep checks it wherever a quantity matters, not just at the moment you pull.

What counts against a date range​

For any window you check, an item's availability is: owned, minus what is already reserved or out on other jobs whose dates overlap that window, minus anything out of service. What is left is available.

A job's own dates set the window it is checked against. Once a job is confirmed, its full span, prep out, show start, show end, and return due, counts, so a job with a long prep or a slow return is correctly counted as holding gear for that whole time, not just the show days.

Where shortages show up​

  • On a job's pull sheet, each line shows owned, available, and a red short badge the moment a requested quantity exceeds what is free.
  • The dashboard's "Shortages, next 14 days" panel lists every upcoming job with a gap, by item, so you see it before you are standing at the shelf.
  • Confirming a job that is short asks you to confirm anyway, so a real shortage never blocks you, it just cannot happen silently.
